Mexico Tourism: The Baja California Peninsul Region Choice

baja-california-peninsul-region-title.jpgThe Sea of Cortes or the Gulf of California is the stretch of water lying between the mainland and Baja California, which is the longest peninsula in the world. Baja California borders with the U.S to the north. It became a state in 1952, with its capital being Mexicali.

Tijuana, Baja California’s second city, is a popular tourist center and access point into the U.S. Being on the coast, the states activities center largely on fishing and also make the most of Ensenada, the state’s port for imports and most importantly, exports to the U.S (it is always an interesting experience to try learning spanish advanced courses abroad).

Mexico Tourism: The Pacific Coast Region Choice

pacific-coast-region-titlew.jpgThe Pacific Coast region is made up of the states of Colina, Guerrero, Jalisco, Nayarit, Oaxaca and Sinaloa. The most famous beach city in Mexico, Acapulco, is located here, but there are numerous other places worth checking out (see Luxury beach houses). Don’t spend all of your time on the coast while in the region: the colonial city of Oaxaca and the nearby ruins of Monte Albán should not be missed.

Perhaps Mexico’s most famous beach resort city, Acapulco is located in the state of Guerrero about 325 kilometers from Mexico City. Nicknamed “the Pearl of the Pacific,” it is the most popular beach resort in Mexico. There are dozens of beaches in and around Acapulco, and they are generally clean and safe. More than simply beaches, Acapulco offers scuba diving, sport fishing, tennis, golf and good shopping. The lively night life is legendary and there are good restaurants and hotels (see hotels in Nayarit). In Mexico you can make your family dream come true! you can enjoy in great your vacations on this tourist destination!

Mexico Tourism: The Yucatan Peninsul Region Choice

Posteado el Mayo 4, 2007 - Categorizado en Mexico: Art and Culture, Mexico: Cities, Mexico: Events, Mexico: Fashion, Mexico: Meetings and Conventions Tourism, Mexico: Places, Mexico: Relax, Mexico: Shopping, Mexico: Strolls, Mexico: Tourism, Mexico: Tours

yucatan-peninsul-region-tiele.jpgThe Yucatán Peninsula is situated on the eastern side of Mexico with the Gulf of Mexico on its western side, and looking out to the Caribbean Sea on the eastern coast. (See Merida Yucatan)

The peninsula is made up of the states of Yucatán, Quintana Roo and Campeche. The land on the peninsula is low lying and flan, with a tropical savanna and climate down south and drier up north. The northern tip is actually a very arid and desert-like region (see hotels in Yucatan).

This part of the country was the first to be discovered by the Spaniards, who actually stumbled upon it unintentionally in 1511 due to a hurricane.

For all of you that are willing to learn more about latinamerican culture and custom, we encourage you and highly recommend trying experiential learning courses abroad.

    Mexico City: Get Naked in

Spencer Tunick, the photographer famous for taking photos of nude crowds in sites around the world, is coming to Mexico in May. Word is he’s hoping to hold a shoot at the pyramids of Teotihuacan, outside Mexico City. Whether or not the INAH (Mexico’s National Institute of Anthropology and History) will allow him to photograph his nude installation at the ancient site remains to be seen. If not, a possible alternative would be Mexico City’s Zocalo. Source: gomexico

Mexico: U.S. President Bush in Merida

U.S. President George Bush is in Merida this week, meeting with Mexican President Felipe Calderon, as part of his tour of Latin America. The two politicians will be meeting at Hacienda Temozon, which is number one on my list of Mexico’s historic hotels. This isn’t the first time a U.S. president has visited the beautiful historic sisal plantation that has been converted into a luxury hotel. President Bill Clinton met with Mexican President Ernesto Zedillo there in 1999. Also on President Bush’s itinerary is a visit to the Mayan archaeological site of Uxmal. Source: gomexico
