Walking around Playa del Carmen and its surroundings

There are many opportunities for walking around Playa del Carmen and for going to other places from that point (see Playa del Carmen mayan). Obviously, each opportunity depends on where you would like to go as well as the amount of money you are willing to spend.

This is because once you have arrived here you will really want to see everything that you can because of the great many things the city offers. Moreover, the fact that it is practically situated in the middle of the Mexican Riviera makes it an excellent starting point to explore this small Mexican paradise.

Cancún, the administrative center of the Mexican Riviera, and Playa del Carmen are connected with public transport buses. The bus service is available between 6 and 10 pm, in which the journey takes approx. an hour with buses running every ten minutes (see our section of Cancun Fishing).

The fare is approximately 3 US dollars. It is also 3 USD to travel between Playa del Carmen and Tulum, although the buses only run every thirty minutes. The bus station is located on the main street of the city, Fifth Avenue. Source:thefivesusa.wordpress.com

Mexicana airline once again qualifies as a clean industry

Mexicana is proud to announce that, for third consecutive year, the airline has been certified as a clean industry by the Environmental Protection Agency. The certification, which is valid until October 11, 2008, was granted on the grounds that Mexicana has fully complied with environmental legislation, after successfully implementing a plan of action drawn up as a result of the environmental audit conducted on the processes and facilities of the group’s maintenance base, the largest and most prestigious of its kind in Latin America.

“Complying with Mexican and international regulations in all areas of the airline’s operations is extremely important to our company, and we are very happy that our maintenance base has once again been certified,” said Mexicana Customer Service and Corporate Communications Director Adolfo Crespo.

The Clean Industry Certification is grounded on Article 28 of regulations to the General Ecological Equilibrium and Environmental Protection Law pertaining to environmental audits.

As a socially responsible company, this certification pays tribute to the airline’s efforts to contribute to a cleaner Mexico.Source:chinapost.com.tw

Dive Sites in Mexico: Gordo Banks

cabo-scuba-diving.jpg

Rivals Cabo Pulmo and San Lucas Bay Submarine Canyon among the prime dive sites in the area. Eight miles off the coast of San Jose Del Cabo, the top of this seamount lies under 110′ - 130′ of water.

This is an advanced dive, only for the most experienced divers, due to the depth and currents that sometimes occur. Plenty of action in the first few feet of the water column, whirlpools of jacks, scores of schooling hammerheads, solitary bull sharks, malnta rays and even the huge whale sharks encountered by fortunate divers (see attractions in San Jose del Cabo).

We invite it to visit this wonderful place and to lodge at one of many hotels in San Jose del Cabo.

Socorro Islands

islasocorro1.jpg

Located some 200 miles southwest of Cabo San Lucas, not enough can be said about these volcanic islands. Uninhabited, except for a navel base, they have been called by many the “Mexican Galapagos”.

Home to whitetip, blacktip, galapagos, tiger and schooling hammerhead sharks this is an area for experienced divers only. Giant Mantas with 15′ - 20′ wingspans are everywhere! Besides 100 lb. tuna and schools of endless gamefish there are many exotic species of reef fish endemic to these islands and nowhere else.

If liked this post and you wish for information about our language and customs in Latinamérica, we highly recommend advanced spanish courses.

We invite it to visit this wonderful place and to lodge at one of many hotels in Cabo San Lucas.

Tulum, a Growing Resort Town

You need to a flashplayer enabled browser to view this YouTube video
Investors looking to cash in on growth in Mexico should take notice of Tulum, a sleepy town on the east side of the Yucatan peninsula in Quintana Roo, which has been heating up in the last few years.

Tulum boasts the most visited set of Mayan ruins in Mexico, a walled city built on a bluff overlooking the Caribbean, according to The New York Times. About an hour south of Cancun’s International Airport, Tulum is a natural day trip for tourists, and some developers in Tulum (see tulum beach umbrellas) are looking to bring tourists and their money to the small Mexican resort town (see travel vacation in México).
